Privacy Policy

RouteRally is operated by WardanceLabs Inc. ("we", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect through RouteRally, why, how it is shared, and your choices. By using RouteRally you agree to this policy.

Summary

RouteRally collects the data needed to provide navigation, drive recording, and real-time convoy features, and to run the social features you opt into. We do not use advertising or cross-app tracking, and we do not sell your data. You can delete your account in the app or on the web; what you shared with other people stays, shown as "Deleted user" (see Retention & Deletion).

Data We Collect

Account information. Email address, display name, and username (via our authentication provider, AWS Cognito), plus any optional profile photo or bio you add.

Location data. Precise GPS location (and related signals such as speed, heading, and altitude) when you use location features:

• Navigation and the map.
• Drive recording (your route and driving telemetry).
• Real-time convoy broadcasting.
• Showing nearby routes, events, and posts.

With the screen off. While you record a drive or follow turn-by-turn navigation — including during a group drive, where your position is shared with the group — location keeps being collected when your screen is off or you switch to another app, so the drive isn't cut short. On Android a notification shows while this is happening; on iPhone, the location indicator does. It stops when the drive ends (you stop recording, you arrive, or the group drive ends), or after about 25 minutes without moving. RouteRally never asks for "Always" location access and does not collect location when you aren't using it.

Drive telemetry. When you record a drive, we collect a time-series of GPS points and motion-derived values (speed, distance, and lateral/longitudinal g-forces) to produce your drive route and report.

Photos and content. Photos you upload (posts, profile avatar, group images) and content you create (routes, captions, ratings, comments).

Social graph & activity. Your follows, group memberships, RSVPs, likes, comments, ratings, and similar activity.

Subscriptions & purchases. If you buy a RouteRally Pro subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google and by our payments provider RevenueCat. We and RevenueCat receive your subscription status and transaction identifiers (the plan, renewal/expiry, the store, and an account identifier) so we can unlock and manage Pro. Your account identifier (a random id from our authentication provider) is shared with RevenueCat as the subscription's user id. We do not receive your credit-card or bank details — those stay with Apple and Google.

We do not collect contacts, microphone audio, health data, advertising identifiers, or device fingerprints, and we do not include analytics, crash- reporting, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Map provider telemetry. The map is drawn by Mapbox's software, which can send Mapbox anonymous location and usage data to help it improve its maps. RouteRally switches this off. It stays off unless you turn it on yourself from the ⓘ button on the map (Mapbox's telemetry option).

How We Use Your Data

• Provide and operate features (navigation, recording, convoys, feed, groups).
• Store and sync your data across your devices.
• Show relevant nearby routes, events, and posts.
• Maintain safety, security, and the integrity of the service.

How Your Data Is Shared

• Convoy participants: while you are in a convoy, your live location is shared in real time with the other participants of that convoy.
• Other users / the public: content you choose to make public (e.g. public routes, posts) is visible according to the visibility you select; private accounts and content are restricted accordingly.
• Service providers (processors): we use AWS (Cognito for authentication; Aurora, S3, and CloudFront for storage and delivery) to run the service. Map, routing, elevation, and weather lookups are made by our backend to Mapbox, Google (Directions/Elevation), and a weather provider — these are sent from our servers, and these providers do not receive your account identity from us. Subscription purchases are processed by Apple/Google and by RevenueCat (our payments provider), which receive your subscription status, transaction identifiers, and account identifier — but not your card or bank details.
• We do not sell your personal data and do not share it for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Data Storage & Security

Account data is stored with AWS Cognito and in our Aurora database; photos and drive telemetry are stored in AWS S3 and served via CloudFront. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device by the operating system.

Retention & Deletion

We retain your data while your account is active. You can delete individual things you create at any time, or your whole account.

Deleting individual items.

• A drive — in the app, open My Drives and swipe the drive to the left; on the web, open Drives and press the bin icon. The drive and its recorded GPS trace are deleted.
• A post — in the app, open the menu on your post and choose Delete post; on the web, open the photo in Photos and choose Delete. The post is removed for everyone and its photos are deleted.
• A comment — in the app, swipe your comment to the left; on the web, press Delete under it. The comment is deleted.
• A route — in the app, open the route, press ⋯ and choose Delete; on the web, open the route, press ⋯ and choose Move to trash. If nobody else uses it, it goes to your Trash, where you can restore it from the web (Routes → Trash); people who already have it in a group or an event they're going to keep it. If other people use a public route — they saved it, drove it, or have it in a group or event — it stays public as a community route: your name is removed and it leaves your routes and your profile. If it needs to go for everyone (for example, it starts at your home), choose Ask us to remove it and we'll take it down.

Deleting your account. In the app, open Profile → Settings → Delete account. On the web, sign in at https://app.prod.wardancelabs.com/settings and open Settings → Delete account. Deletion is permanent, and runs on a 7-day grace period:

• Your account and profile are hidden from other people straight away, and you are signed out.
• For 7 days you can sign in again and restore the account.
• After 7 days the deletion completes automatically. You do not need to do anything further, and it cannot be undone at that point.

If you own a group that other people are still in, make someone else the owner first (on the web: open the group → Members → Make owner) or remove the other members, so the group carries on without you. Deleting your account does not cancel a RouteRally Pro subscription: cancel it in Google Play or the App Store.

What we delete. Your profile (name, photo, bio and other details) and your sign-in credentials; your recorded drives and their location data; your saved routes, the people you follow, your responses to upcoming events and your group memberships; your subscription record; and the notifications sent to you. Your private routes that nobody else has are removed from the app for good, along with their map pictures.

What we keep. What you shared with other people stays, so their feeds, chats, events and maps aren't broken by your leaving: your posts and photos, comments, chat messages (the people you chatted with keep the conversation, including photos you sent), event announcements, likes, ratings and the events you went to. Your public routes stay public as community routes, and private routes other people already have stay with them. Groups you own are handed to another member. All of it is kept without your name, photo or profile: it is shown as from "Deleted user" and is no longer linked to your sign-in. If you want a post or comment removed as well, delete it before deleting your account.

Your Choices

• Control location permissions in your device settings (note some features will not work without location).
• Choose the visibility of your content (public/followers/private). A route can be made private while nobody else uses it; once other people use a public route, it stays public (you can remove your name from it or ask us to remove it).
• Make your account private to gate who can follow you.

Children

RouteRally is not directed to children and is intended for users old enough to hold a valid driver's licence.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected in the date above and, where appropriate, surfaced in the App.
